Filmnet launched – MTV MEDIA revolutionises the Finnish video on demand market

The latest Hollywood blockbusters and an archive of more than a thousand movies. Episodes of TV series available immediately after the first broadcast in the US. Complete series, all seasons. MTV MEDIA offers most viewed drama and entertainment programmes and movies in 2012 TV year

The 2012 TV year proved successful for MTV MEDIA’s channels. MTV3 had the highest reach among TV channels in Finland, and the most watched drama series and entertainment programmes were shown on MTV3. Sub, in turn, showed the most viewed movies. AVA multiplied its viewership, and the popularity of the content of the online service Katsomo increased by 50 per cent compared to the previous year. Overall, more time than ever before was spent watching television in 2012.

Radio Nova and Spotify kicked off unique partnership

MTV MEDIA's national radio channel Nova and music service Spotify have signed a cooperation agreement on a ground-breaking content partnership. Nova is the first radio channel in the world to team up with Spotify for the creation of programme content.

MTV MEDIA signs new F1 deal

During the 2012 F1 season MTV3 MAX broadcasts all GPs, qualifying rounds and free practice rounds live. The channel's offerings also include the Formula 1: Extra, Formula 1: Pre Race and Formula 1: Weekend at the Paddock shows.

MTV Oy has agreed on a three-year extension to its F1 television rights with Formula One Management.

MTV MEDIA is updating its pay TV selection

MTV MEDIA will launch a new channel package, MTV3 Total, which includes all the sports channels of the MTV3 channel package and the C More channels.

MTV MEDIA is updating its pay TV selection by placing all pay TV channels in a single package, whether they be broadcast sports, movies, series, documentaries or children's programmes. The new MTV3 Total package includes all C More channels as well as the MTV3 channel package channels.

“Our current customers have frequently expressed a wish for this kind of solution, and we have been planning it for some time now. The new package will clarify our offering and will surely be well received on the current, fragmented pay TV market,” says Jorma Härkönen, Senior Vice President, Internet and Consumer Businesses at MTV MEDIA.

The new package's price will be in the region of EUR 25 per month.

AVA was created together with the viewers

The third free national TV channel of MTV MEDIA, AVA, received its licence at the beginning of 2012. In the autumn, the channel was reborn as a genuinely interactive social media. "We have challenged our viewers to participate in creating a constantly developing, bold channel with the Let's Create Together concept. Viewers have been enthusiastic about the possibility to influence how the channel looks, sounds and feels,” says MTV MEDIA Head of Promotion, Tuomo Kulomaa.

Let’s make good news

In November 2012, MTV3 and the Tukikummit Foundation started a three-year project aiming to reduce young people’s loneliness and inaction. The campaign for young people challenges all Finns to donate either money, time or work to improve the wellbeing of young people. The patron is Sauli Niinistö, President of the Republic of Finland. The three-year project is widely profiled in MTV's news and current affairs programming.
